Géant Casino Shopping Centre - Seynod (74 - France)

SET TARGET :
Building an extension to the existing shopping centre in conformity with the general approach of 'Alcudia' projects: an architecture with a local or regional style and an omnipresent 'neighbourhood spirit'.

THE SOLUTION OFFERED BY SUD ARCHITECTES :
Abandoning the existing roof structures and focusing on the modernity of shapes and volumes while using typically regional materials. Gabion facades, bilacquered zinc roofs, larch battens in the upper part of the volumes, trolley parks with a wood structure and a zinc roof, solid-wood entry fences simply stuck into the ground, stone paving or wooden decking for the outside eating areas... all these elements give the site a strong personality that is in keeping with the local environment. The 'neighbourhood spirit' also permeates the landscape environment: minimal use of tarmac, fruit trees planted at random in the car parks, turfed flowerbeds, hedges protecting the pedestrian flows, .... This all contributes to making the shopping centre easier to understand.
