PROJECTS Urbanism

Rogoznica Island - Croatia

SET TARGET :
Making the most of a unique site, with the constraints of its specific geographic location, to establish a hotel, leisure and shopping complex.

THE SOLUTION OFFERED BY SUD ARCHITECTES :
An intervention which capitalises on the reduction of the ecological footprint and uses the landscaping elements as main promotion tools. The development of the area comprises three phases:
1. rethinking the means of access, with the objective of minimising motorised travel on the island. Priority is given to soft transport modes and to pedestrian travel.
2. recreating an urban centrality: the outlying and isolated town hall is moved towards the centre of the island, close to the village. Basic needs stores are established along the dike. A "resident" car park is provided, so as to concentrate car parking.
3. developing the touristic site: an access way is provided from the town centre, via a landscape path. The seaside areas are developed so as to offer multiple points of access.
