“URBAN 7 FACTORY” INAUGURATION, LYON

SUD architectes is proud to have inaugurated the Urban 7 Factory in Lyon!
135 homes covering more than 9,000 m², built in partnership with Promoval and Vilogia in the heart of the Gerland district.

The inauguration was attended by Gregory Fouque, Chairman of Promoval, Philippe Remignon, Chairman of the Management Board of Vilogia, Renaud PAYRE, Vice-Chairman of the Lyon Metropolitan Council with responsibility for housing and urban policy, Raphaël Michaud, Deputy Mayor of Lyon with responsibility for affordable, low-carbon and desirable cities and councillor for the 7th arrondissement, Guillaume Hamelin, Managing Director of in'li AURA and Violaine Hugonnier, Architect with SUD architectes.

The "Urban 7 Factory" project is part of a context rich in diversity of urban typologies and uses representative of the history of the Gerland district and the major urban changes that characterise it. Hence the need for an overall approach to the connections that need to be made to create a dialogue between the new project and the existing urban forms:

On the street side, the project is in keeping with the dynamics of the Cité-Jardin by being organised into 3 blocks separated by caesuras, resonating with the existing buildings.

The heart of the block features a more contemporary design, inspired by the surrounding industrial sheds, with volumes traced on the rhythm of the metal roofs, and modules created to enliven the facade and reduce the relationship of scale, inspired by the town house.
The landscaping creates a real breathing space for plants, with more than twenty trees planted for the well-being of the new residents.

With its NF Habitat HQE certification and its Grand Lyon sustainable housing benchmark, "Urban 7 Factory" contributes to the guidelines and objectives of the Metropolis of Lyon and the City of Lyon.

Congratulations to the whole team!
