MARSEILLE PROVENCE AIRPORT CAR PARK Marignane (France) - 2019
General presentation
Contexte & enjeux
On the shores of the Etang de Berre, open to the horizons of the orange-pink limestone cliffs of Vitrolles and close to the Estaque mountain range, the airport site, by its flatness and the importance of its scale, establishes a strong relationship with the geography of its territory, thus offering 9 million passengers per year an atypical encounter with nature. From the ground or the sky, the landscapes are experienced and perceived by each individual and reflect the identity of the territory.
In order to mitigate the very arid and mineral character of the site, this car park will be a project that is inseparable from the landscape, sensitive and contextual, providing a new urbanity to the place. The strategic location allows for an architectural identity of its own, without any desire to contradict the existing architectural codes of the terminal designed by Fernand Pouillon and partly taken over by Foster & Partner for the extension of this same terminal. We claim an intervention to bring the Mediterranean nature into the airport.
