In Lyon, on the slopes of Fourvière Hill, the Lugdunum project is situated within an exceptional heritage site, where the topography and history interact closely with the surrounding wooded landscape. The project transforms an existing block into a contemporary residence integrated into a park, striking a balance between heritage and modernity.

The project features a composition of small pavilions and fragmented volumes that blend into the landscape rather than imposing themselves upon it. This domestic scale allows for a gentle integration into the site, while fostering a sense of closeness and conviviality.

Social diversity is fully embraced, with owner-occupied and public housing units united under a single architectural language, promoting community living. The layout of the buildings prioritizes views of the expansive Lyon landscape and visual connections to the surrounding heritage sites.

The architectural style draws inspiration from a reinterpreted classical elegance, with subtle references to Art Deco vocabulary. The lines are clean and graphic, guided by a particular attention to the proportions and rhythms of the facades.

The materials – facing stone, light-colored concrete, metal, and glass – are chosen for their ability to age gracefully and to harmonize with the historic site. They create a timeless palette, free of superfluous decorative effects.
