LA MACHE TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL Lyon (France) - 2023
General presentation
Contexte & enjeux
Founded in 1920 by Father La Mache, the La Mache vocational high school benefits from a site of more than 17,000 m² located in the heart of Lyon, which has developed over time and is now continuing its transformation.
With the project for a new building, the school intends to consolidate its image and values, reflect its history and project itself into the future.
In addition to the building itself, work has been carried out on the entire site and the schoolyard in order to redefine the issues in terms of use, movement, access, urban and landscape integration, with a view to improving the living environment of students and teachers in the long term.
This building is the new showcase of the school, giving it a visibility that was previously too confidential from the public space: on the Boulevard Jean XXIII, a clearly marked, traced and generously glazed base accompanies the pedestrian towards the new main entrance of the site.
The upper levels offer a more classical architecture, however, animated by a play of recessed volumes and terraces offering a beautiful plant presence on the street.
The use of brick, glass, metal and wood in the facade accompanies the mix of sheltered functions.
