Contexte & enjeux

In addition to the functional redevelopment of the spaces to provide a better welcome for the public, the restructuring of the facility will above all enable an improvement in thermal and energy performance, with the aim of reducing current consumption by more than 40%.

A facility of this type has to cope with sustained visitor numbers and intensive use. Successive extensions have made it necessary to reorganize certain areas in order to better accommodate the public. Although the current operation of the facility is coherent and tried and tested, a number of changes will be made to increase the capacity and comfort of the reception area, and to better manage the flow of visitors.

The Grand Chalon nautical centre is a key facility in the region, and one of the only ones able to accommodate the entire population, of all ages and social classes. Not only does it contribute to the cohesion of the community, it also anchors sport as a strong marker of the community.

This refurbishment is necessary to take the nautical centre into a new decade, one of accelerated environmental transition and the need for facilities accessible to all.
