STEEL Saint-Etienne (France) - 2020
General presentation
Contexte & enjeux
Architectural impact, iconic design, environmental excellence, a customer experience full of surprises, a targeted merchandising mix… Located along the A72 motorway and at the main entrance to Saint-Etienne, STEEL is a strong, very contemporary architectural object offering 70,000 sq. m. of retail and leisure space.
Its spectacular roof plays with the lines of the Saint-Etienne landscape, while highlighting the views towards the city centre. Another key element of its identity is that the facades are clad in a metallic and luminous mesh specially created by the designer Joran Briand.
STEEL is a real urban park built around a natural vegetated axis that hosts ecological ponds and clearings, each with a unique programme (biodiversity, sliding, games, etc.).
