ZAC DES BATIGNOLLES Paris (France)
Contexte & enjeux
In the heart of the Batignolles mixed development zone (ZAC), SUD Architectes is developing 9,350 m² of retail. Situated on 2 islets – developed in partnership with Gaétan Le Penhuel and Saison-Menu – the project is located where the new ecodistrict and historic Paris meet at Pont Cardinet station.
At the exit of the new metro station on line 14, the shopping center is built up along the new main road, from a generous concourse. The commerce traverses islet O1 on 3 levels along a landscaped alley, then on 2 levels facing the generous urban forecourt of islet O3.
Rendering this programmatic intertwining of Mobility-Housing-Retail-Office simple and legible was one of the crucial challenges of the project, notably at ground floor level. The facades of the shopping center, architecturally consistent with all aspects of these two lots, provide the site a strong identity, playing with its density by offering visual, programmatic and urban transparencies.
