VAUBAN CAR PARK Nice (France) - 2026
General presentation
Contexte & enjeux
The Vauban car park and its landscaped square are one of the links in the master plan for the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolitan area’s 2030 urban transport network, which will improve the public transport network, support the development of active modes of transport and relieve congestion in the area. The creation of public car parks and park-and-ride facilities will make it possible to limit the number of private vehicles and, de facto, increase the number of users of public transport and soft modes of transport, while at the same time helping the Metropole to adapt to climate, environmental and energy changes.
The project will also ensure the redevelopment of a public space that is currently enclosed.
The programme consists of a superstructure silo car park on a dedicated renaturated right of way.
The Large Ventilated Car Park (LVCP) is a 535-space, three-storey structure built entirely on the site of an existing car park that is now sealed off.
Around this silo car park, a landscaped area will be developed with 2 features:
– The landscaped park that will occupy the southern part of the site will be a fenced public park
– Two forecourts, one predominantly planted in the north-western part and the other predominantly mineral in the eastern part, providing access for pedestrians and vehicles.
Between the two, a green area at the foot of the structure along the north facade provides a transition.
The aim of the project is therefore to improve the neighbourhood’s parking facilities while at the same time enhancing the landscape through a green landscape that covers more than half the surface area of the plot.
