LES TERRASSES DE L’ETOILE / EHPAD Marcy-l'Etoile (France) - 2021

General presentation

Contexte & enjeux

The architectural approach is to create a simple and functional volumetry opening to the south and offering views towards the distant landscape. The compact U-shaped layout of the EHPAD is directly induced by the morphology of the plot and its orientation. The building’s tiered layout is intended to facilitate its integration into a heterogeneous, predominantly suburban site.

The strong materiality of the facades, made of insulated concrete precast walls, responds to the desire for the building’s durability and ease of maintenance, while at the same time allowing for an off-site construction project. A play of colour, layout and texture, with or without matting, gives rhythm to the whole and animates the volume.
The living spaces, at the heart of the building, open onto landscaped outdoor areas where terraces, fountains and planted containers contribute to the creation of places conducive to the relaxation of residents and their families. The floor lounges and activity rooms are positioned at the end of the circulation to facilitate movement and offer spaces with large windows overlooking the landscape.

The garden is entirely landscaped and is centred around a central space, a real living space, around an axis crossing the building from the forecourt to the garden. Numerous terraces on the upper floors offer residents places to rest and contemplate the surroundings.
