Contexte & enjeux
Located in Villeurbanne at Carré de Soie, this 36,900 m² building houses the activities of Alstom Transport. A showcase for French railway technology, it houses the site’s 800 employees who were previously spread over 5 buildings.
A compact comb-shaped layout, taking into account the limited space available. A large central artery distributes perpendicular aisles, facilitating movement and diffusing light.
A key piece of a site in the midst of change, the project offers a tertiary urban front on the main thoroughfare of the renewed district.
At the front: the offices, the showroom, a large company restaurant and the social premises. At the back: the industrial part with production workshops, laboratories and logistics.
The building outlines the process and the industrial programme, and makes them legible.
It is a way of highlighting Alstom’s activities and know-how.
