Contexte & enjeux
The urban design provides for the connection of the industrial city to the urban fabric, an architecture that respects the emblematic industrial buildings, a recomposed and woven landscape to spread public space throughout the site in the vicinity of the city centre.
The contemporary architecture in a subtle play of weaving/metal mesh, intertwines with the existing structural framework.
The reworked hall defines an emblematic architectural element of the 19th century industrial heritage.
An umbrella shelter by the mere conservation of the framework and the roof, it covers a mix of functions within it with one box per function; it also opens up to the city through a play of north-south and east-west connections.
