AQUATIC CENTRE LA MOTHE-ACHARD La Mothe-Achard (France) - 2014
General presentation
Contexte & enjeux
Set in a beautiful site with a lake below, the volumetry is composed of a large roof, resting essentially on glass walls and two circular units clad in wood, grouping the administration and cloakrooms on either side of the hall.
This arrangement gives the building a great deal of lightness. Sloping towards the entrance to the site, the visible roof is planted, favouring architectural integration. On the lake side, the long curved façade of the basin hall invites the sun to penetrate.
The outdoor beach level, the entrance forecourt and the roof of the semi-buried technical premises form a large peripheral circle at the same level.
