RESIDENCE BORDS DE MER Palavas-les-Flots (France) - 2020

Contexte & enjeux

This project for a residence for autonomous seniors near the seaside in Palavas-les-Flots has a volumetric simplicity that we felt it necessary to extend in its architectural expression.

The project is composed of two built ensembles, each organised around a central patio. In order to respect the PPRI regulations, the R+2 dwellings are placed on a base that accommodates the
car parks. Shared spaces such as the large patio terraces are located on the upper floor.
A base made of dry stone gabions, masonry blocks treated with smooth rendering, elements of animation in the form of balconies, courtyards or pergolas using a vocabulary of matt black metal and wood, openings highlighted by mixed wood-aluminium joinery.
The simplicity of the project’s architectural vocabulary contrasts with a rich, luxuriant plant treatment, in keeping with the local plantations.
Through these general provisions, this new programme is well integrated into the urban fabric of Palavas. It makes a valuable contribution to the development of the town through its function
but also by its architecture. This will benefit its future users, of course, but also the entire population of Palavas.
