REVITALISATION OF THE CITY CENTRE Lodz (Pologne) - 2024

Contexte & enjeux

This project is the third major intervention of SUD Urbanism in the city of Łódź after the success of Manufaktura and the bid for the International EXPO 2022.

Spread over six historical sectors of the city centre, the operation aims at revitalising the city centre, restructuring parks and public spaces, as well as rehabilitating 25 dilapidated tenement buildings.

This urban dynamic is accompanied by new programmes in existing buildings. Thus, several buildings will have new functions: flats, cultural and leisure centres, public institutions, etc., in which the evolutionary work of the heritage is enriched by the overall urban reflection.

The project integrates a mix of programmes of various scales and is organised in a broad reflection in order to improve the different living environments of the inhabitants. Thus, the urban project proposes the creation of a children’s theatre, a library, a police station and new restaurants.

In the same way, the outdoor facilities enrich the diversity of uses with multiple green spaces, playgrounds, the integration of parking lots, etc.
The restructured urban fabric as a whole will thus bring about a real change in the daily lives of the inhabitants and will contribute to a new dynamic in the city.
